About Mentors On Tap

Steve and I have known each other for about a decade and a half, have worked together for most of that, and have gotten to be pretty good friends, in spite of never having shaken hands (yet).

We have a lot in common, such as a love of fishing, cooking, caring for animals, appreciation of the female form and efficiency. Fast cars have a place in there, too. Did you mention the fishing? Be sure to mention the fishing – Steve.

We also share a common desire to see misinformation and crap-hat tactics exposed and stamped out. Sometimes, misinformation seems to take on a life of its own, when it’s repeated by so many, so often, that it’s assumed to be true.

And sometimes, someone claiming to be an expert, ninja or guru will convince a site owner to do something unwise. That may be because the so-called expert doesn’t care what happens to the site as long as he gets paid, or it may just be because he’s a freakin’ idiot. I’m going with idiot in more cases than not. You know the ones, forum warriors whose primary experience comes from reading what other people say in 6 year old forum threads and seem to think that selling forum signatures is a sure fire way to success. – Steve

There are a lot of unknowns in how we all work online, and a fair amount of disagreement about what techniques are most effective. So we decided that a good way to help would be by providing a resource where webmasters, site owners or others could get clarification by asking questions.

Mentors On Tap is Born

Most people, including both of us, have had someone that helped them out at some point, teaching us the right way to do something. Mentors On Tap is our way of helping out a little, answering specific questions, helping put things in perspective. Call it Payin’ it Forward.

So when you have a question about something, whether it’s about how to make your website work the way you want, how to market in a particular niche or platform or maybe just how to interpret some confusing Google statement, just ask Mentors On Tap. It’s free and if we don’t know the answer, we’ll either find it for you or tell you we just don’t know. Free? Wait, you didn’t say anything about this being free. – Steve

What we won’t do is blow smoke up your butt. Unless you pay us to. _ Steve
